Sammy the Seahorse Wins Gold!

Sammy the Seahorse

Martha and Ann Driscoll have won a Mom’s Choice Gold Award in the “Juvenile Books (Level 1 — Ages 5 to 8)” category for their newest book, Sammy the Seahorse. The book — illustrated by award-winning artist Susan Andra Lion — is packed with fascinating details about seahorses and is a fun educational story that readers of all ages will enjoy.

Sammy the Seahorse answers the question: Is a seahorse a fish or is it a horse? It’s a fish, of course! Follow Sammy the Seahorse and Lily the Lobster into the ocean and the coral reef to learn about seahorses and their habitats. Included is educational information about a variety of seahorse species — unique characteristics of seahorses, seahorse habitats, anatomy, reproduction, threats to survival, and preservation. The book includes a hidden picture activity; colorful comparison of 25 kinds of seahorses; a challenge to readers to find all the seahorses, leafy sea dragons, and pipefish tucked away inside the covers; and a detailed glossary of terms and reference information.

“This beautifully illustrated book introduces seahorses in a light-hearted but factually accurate manner. It will be sure to delight young readers and further their knowledge about these fascinating creatures.”
