Praise for Rosa’s Monarch Butterfly

“Children – and their parents – will love the book Rosa’s Monarch Butterfly: The Magic of Metamorphosis. It contains everything: an interesting story, education, crafts, and wonderful illustrations. Rosa’s Monarch Butterfly will be read and looked at for years to come. Authors Martha Driscoll and Ann Driscoll have come up with a winning combination: wonderful story + great images + fun activities = awesome book. Rosa manages to convince a group of bullies into believing that those crawling, eating insects will transform into flying, sipping butterflies. And she shares the wonder and magic of the monarch butterfly with us. Imagine: a creepy, crawly becoming a beautiful butterfly! Amazing.

I love all the subtle craft suggestions in the images of this book, especially the butterfly masks. Illustrator Susan Andra Lion does a wonderful job with educational and fun artwork to fill the pages. Some illustrations are very technical and labeled, which parents and teachers will love. Rosa’s Monarch Butterfly should be in every public and school library. And home libraries, too! Authors Martha Driscoll and Ann Driscoll manage to weave some subtle advice on dealing with bullies, non-believers, and raising butterflies into this wonderful story. The book’s layout is interesting too with some text wrapping around the images. Parents and teachers are going to love the additional crafts of this informative, yet interesting book. I also love the matching game at the back of the book and finding these drawings in the book will have children – and adults – looking through the book again and again. Great idea.”
