Martha & Ann Driscoll
Martha and Ann Driscoll are a mother/daughter writing team who both love books, especially books for children.
We share a home on the New Hampshire seacoast where we are constantly reading books, looking at the illustrations in books, talking about books, and working on writing our next story.
And, we are both educators. Martha (pictured on the right) enjoyed a long and meaningful career, first as a public school teacher and reading specialist and then as a member of the faculty in the School of Education at Spalding University. Ann has been on the faculty and in a variety of leadership positions at several colleges and universities.
Martha, an award-winning author, published her first children’s book (Nosey’s Wild Ride on the Belle of Louisville) when she was 88 years old. Every sentence that she puts down is written in long hand on a legal pad. She has filled more legal pads than we can count!
Ann started out as a journal writer. She has a box of old journals stashed in the bottom of her closet that weighs more than 50 pounds!
Susan Andra Lion
Susan Andra Lion is an award-winning illustrator and author. She is dedicated to conscious living as a citizen of the earth and its many creatures. Sue believes that art opens doors to the imagination and is an important educational tool needed to connect with each other and our own hearts. She took her first art class in college while on the path to becoming a physical education teacher, changed her major and never looked back. Sue operates her own graphic design and illustration business close to the mountains in Colorado, a place that has been home to myriad animals and capricious wind — inspiration for her artwork and stories.
Her books include writing and illustrating How the Trees Got Their Voices, winner of 20 national awards, and White Butterfly and Her Wings of Many Colors, based on Arnold Bustillo’s tale and recipient of 10 national awards. Sue’s also been recognized for her illustration and design of several other books for children and adults, including Pathways Through the Past, by Kadie Engstrom, and Ophelia’s Oracle, written by Donna DeNomme and Tina Proctor. Nosey’s Wild Ride, Sammy the Seahorse and Rosa’s Monarch Butterfly have been three of her favorite works.
